Sunshine inside and out

While browsing through etsy I came across this wonderful undiscovered shop. These lights are wonderful and I would love to hang a few of these wonderful organic white ones in my bedroom. I"m not the most organized person in the world, but tonight I finally buckled down and put all of my clean laundry away that had been sitting in baskets. I also started rearranging and now I am excited to redecorate the bedroom. I hope that the rest of you aren't nearly as far behind as I was at putting away my clothes, but I must say that I'm enjoying having my clothes in their drawers, and have a clean bedroom. So if you've been putting off cleaning, get it done before the wonderful sunshine arrives later this week and pulls you outdoors. http://www.etsy.com/shop/JoshUrsoDesign

Topography for the Table

Posted by Picasa

I've been working on this piece for awhile, and am happy to say that I think it's finished. I first wove the fabric, then sewed in designs, cut out sections of the woven fabric and sewed in a new piece of fabric. I"m happy with how it turned out, and I'm planning to work with this idea some more. I'm thinking that I"m going to create some table runners using this method!

My husband did all of the work in the kitchen this weekend as usual, so I took some photos of the wonderful cookies that he made. Peca also spent the afternoon in the studio with me, so we had a little photo shoot.

Sunday Studio Time

I was finally able to get back into my studio this weekend and completed a few projects. It felt so good to have time to create after an extremely long and busy week. Tomorrow, myself along with 5 other teachers are taking 70 high school students to Washington DC to visit some wonderful art galleries, I'm so excited for some new inspiration!

Green Growing Goodness

My husband loves to garden and enjoys starting his plants from seed. He has set up his seeds in our home and purchased heat lamps to keep them warm throughout the day. Once Velo, our cat discovered these she thought that was was living at the spa. Every chance she had she would curl up under the heat lamps, I think she may have been trying to get a tan for the summer. Of course I thought that this was cute, and my husband saw his plants getting killed. I'm also looking at these little seeds that get the pleassure of sitting under this wonderful warm light, and think back to the not so long ago days of winter. My husband keeps the house pretty cold, and I go along with it and bundle up, however I'm beginning to wonder why I can't have heat lamps shining on me all winter?

Anyway, while I don't do any of the growing, I do enjoy the plants greatly. Both their beauty and the food that they provide. ( of course my husband cooks that too) So here are some wonderful gardening finds from etsy. I"m especially loving the spoons as labels. It just makes the plant look that much cooler, so much more pleasing to look at, then those little plastic labels.

So if you're like me and don't garden, think of someone you know who does, and get them a little gift to help start their gardening season right!

armed with a degree in architecture, i am constantly thinking about design. surrounding yourself with things that make you smile is what it's all about.

i'm proud to offer hand screenprints. it is important to note that each has slight variations, to make one of a kind awesomeness. due to the nature of hand silkscreening, lots of factors effect how each individual print turns out. i do my best to make lovely, amazing prints and only ship the best, but not every one is alike or completely legible - that's what makes it awesome and one of a kind. embrace the uniqueness of the prints you receive! ;)

Inspiration

I"m so glad that Friday has arrived and am looking forward to hopefully spending some time in my studio this weekend, lately I just haven't gotten in there as much as I want to.

I'm loving the sunshine that we're having this week and on wednesday, it inspired me to go for a run, while I workout regularly, running is not one of the things that I do, because I have really bad knees. But every once awhile I convince myself that it would be a good idea, and wednesday was one of those days. It was a painful run, but I did it anyway. Thursday morning came and decided that I should begin riding my bike to work again, it's 10 miles each way and a wonderful ride. Well my legs are hurting this morning, but at least I know I worked out hard.

Today I am going to be teaching third graders about weaving, I'm excited for the change of pace from high school students and think that today should be fun. Plus elementary school starts an hour after high school, so I have a bit more time to wake up this morning.

To brighten up everyone's Friday I picked some of my favorite items from etsy to share with you all today. Enjoy!

Studio Projects

I've been spending a lot of time in my studio lately and wanted to share with you some of my recent projects. The scarf is a work in progress, and I'm not totally sure whater I'm going with it, but I"m having fun making it. This piece began because as I was sewing the design, the scarf get caught in my sewing machine and tore a part. I hate wasting things so I began to think about what I could do, so that I could still use the woven piece. Right now I am working with felt that I made and adding a new design on top of the piece.
