Selling on Copious

From june 2012

I only started using copious.com a few weeks ago, so I don't have a ton of feedback on sales, but I'm going to tell you a little bit about the site in case you're looking to branch out.

copious is designed for really any body and everybody to sell stuff. You can sell things that you have that you want to get rid or, or you can things that you make.

There is no start up fee and no limit to the amount of photos that you can list. However they charge a 6% market fee if your work sells. They give you the option of having the customer pay that fee or you pay it. I always pay the market place fee. I just don't think that the customer should have to.

Copious is connected to other social media networks, so like etsy it makes it really easy for you and others to share your work. People can also like your work, and have a collection of images of things that they like. I will say that while I have yet to sell anything on copious I have found that people interact with my work much more on this site than they do on etsy. Copious is also newer, so there are not quiet as many people selling on it.

Why I choose to do it. I'm already photographing my work and writing descriptions for etsy, so I figured why not list them another place as well, as I only have to pay if they sell. It seemed like a good avenue to get my work seen by more people and a different group of people than are on etsy.

I love copious and have sold quite a few items there. You can find me on Facebook - Lacreta Doty for a list of sites I currently sell on. Listia is also another favorite of mine, you can get rid of items you no longer use and get items you want!! They have finished their Beta testing, and are now giving away free cruises, gas for a year, and even a NEW CAR if you have the credits. Don't have enough, then list items and save them to get great items!

I'm relatively new to copious and am having a hard time getting traffic on my page and was wondering if you had any tips on getting buyers.

I know on sites like Poshmark they have little 'parties' where people gather and focus on a particular set of items to sell.

any tips?
