Viking Chain Knit

I am a high school art teacher, and one of the classes that I teach is jewelry/ metals. I had very little experience with jewelry making when I was hired, and have worked to teach myself how to make jewelry. Recently I saw someone with a Viking knit Chain and loved it. I did some research, found directions, and learned how to make one. I thought that this would be a great thing to teach to my jewelry class. The students have loved making the chains, and really enjoy making something that looks so good and professional. Here are some of the pieces that I created while I was learning how to do this myself. Our next jewelry challenge is to design jewelry from sivlerware, but they must use all parts of the silverware. So I began by making a spoon bracelet. I also created the pendant on my necklace from a hammed out spoon.

These beads are great and are similar to Pandora beads, however mine are from Patomac Bead company and only cost a few dollars. You can also take classes at Patomac where they will teach you how to do Viking Chain Knit. They have many other great jewelry classes as well.
