DIY: Bridal Shower Part 2

More bridal shower decorations. I made these white pom poms for the wedding, but thought that they would work great for the shower. They are very easy and fun to make. To had a little bit of color I took colored paper, cut it into circles and sewed the circles onto string that I then draped along the line of pom poms balls. If you like the look but don't want to make them, you can purchase some here

Another fun and easy way to decorate. I made a banner. I printed out the names of the bride and groom and then layered the letters on different colors of paper. I hung the letters on a string using clothes pins. Now it's time for you to get out there and be creative. I really had a lot of fun making decorations for this party, and have a few more how to's to share with you. What are your favorite party decorations? Pin It
DIY: Strawberry Decorations
I made these wonderful fun soft strawberries to use as decorations for a bridal shower. They're easy to make and cheap too. I made them with scarps of fabric left over from other projectsstep 1: cut out a circle. The larger the circle the larger the strawberry. Experiment and see what you like the best.
Step 2, cut the circle in half. Each circle makes two strawberries
Step 3: fold the piece of fabric in half. Make sure that the wrong side of the fabric is facing out.
Step 4: stich up the side of the fabric. Then stuff the cone shape, and do a running stich along the top, sinch and you will see the strawberry form appear. I then cut out strawberry tops from felt and hot glued them along with a piece of ribbion on the top. The felt top covers up the stiching.
I took a nice walk down the street and gathered stickes. I collected wine bottles and then placed the sticks in the bottles and hung the berries from the sticks. I used them for center pieces on the tables and sat them throughout the house. Quick, easy and cheap. Since I made these for a bridal shower, I created labels for the wine bottles that had to do with love. I looked up different words that had to do with love and marriage, and printed out the word along with the deffintion of the word and glued them onto the wine bottles.

If you use scraps of fabric you do this project for just a few dollars. And whats great about these decorations is that the wine bottles can be recycled, sticks go back in nature, and the berries become gifts, as well as ornaments for Christmas. They're even fun just to hang around the house. I also discovered that cats just adore them. Our cat loves sitting and batting the strawberries off of their sticks and chasing them around the room. Happy Creating. More decortions tutorials to come. Pin It
Bridal Shower
This weekend we had a surprise shower for my soon to be sister in law. The shower was at my home, and Brandi, the bride to be, thought that she was just coming out to my house to spend the afternoon with me. Brandi was to meet me at my home at 2:30, however, my brother decided to take her out to lunch, not sure what he was thinking. So Brandi didn't arrive to my house until 4:00. So everyone that was here for the party had plenty of time to get to know eachother. My wonderful husband was in charge food, and made so many wonderful tasty treats!
Brandi was totally surpised, and the afternoon was so much fun. Keep checking the blog this week to find out how I made all of the decorations for the shower.

Kane's Kingdom
I"m not a big fan of yard work, but I do greatly appreciate all of the work that my husband puts into our yard. He's created a cozy and comfortable environment in our small backyard, that I just love. Here are some photos of new flowers that are blooming.

DIY Wedding Veil
My brother is getting married this summer, to a great girl! This week I worked on making the veil for the wedding. Here's how I did it.
Step 1: I cut the tulle from my wedding dress. I thought that this would be a great way to get some more use of my dress, plus because my dress was many layers of tulle, you can't even tell that I cut anything off of it!

Step 2: fold the fulle in half and cut to the desired length. Cut in a U shape. You want to leave a little extra for stitching the edges.

Step 3: take a piece of scrap tulle and test out some different stiches that your sewing machine can do. Be sure that you like the stiching and that you are comfortable sewing tulle. Sew the stich about an inch away from the edge. You will trim the excess tulle after the stiching is finished.

Step 4: trim edge
Step 5: do a running stich along the top and gather the material.
Step 6: sew the veil onto a head band on hair comb. You want to sew instead of glue if the wedding is during the hot summer, to ensure that the glue doesn't melt.

Strawberry summer

Yesterday we picked our first wonderful red stawberries for the garden! It was so hard to patiently wait two years to have these tasty berries. I"m so excited for summer break, so that I can sit out on our deck and munch on all of the great food growing in the garden. What are you looking forward to doing over the summer? Pin It
