Step Two: After you finish warping, you must remove the yarn from the warping board, but still keep it in the correct order. You should create a chain of the yarn. You do this by grabbing one end and then looping the yarn to create a wonderful chain.

not to make any mistakes as these will show up in the finished product. The first step is placing the rods through the cross oft the yarn, then tieing the yarn onto the back beam of the loom. The chain of yarn must then be wrapped around the back beam. The yarn needs to be combed while winding it around the back beam, to remove all knots.
Step four: You must determine what pattern you wish to use for weaving. Each strand of yarn must be threaded through the headles, the order you thread the yarns helps to determine what the pattern of the finished piece will look like. I have used plain weave for this piece, so I thread the yarn 1-2-3-4 and then repeat the process.

Step Five: After threading the yarn through each heddle, each strand must be threaded through the read. After threading through the reed, tie the yarn ends onto the front beam. It is essential to be sure that the tension is equal and tight.

Step six: Begin weaving. You must press the treadles in a certain order to create the pattern. To create plain weave I treddle 5-6 and repeat. When pressing the treddle it creates an opening for the shuttle to go through, this yarn is called the weft.
Step seven: This is what the scarf looks like after it is taken off of the loom. This is five yards of woven fabric. The last step is to alter the piece by pulling on the warp strings, which creates texture and adds the flair.

Nutella Pound Cake, I haven't gotten to try this yet, but can't wait. This past summer my husband, brother, a friend, and I traveled to France, and followed the bike race. Our friend Kenny , fell in love with Nutella on the trip. So in honor of Kenny, whom, we are going skiing with this weekend, my husband made him this Nutella Pound Cake.
Ingredients

3 eggs

1 cup sugar

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

200 grams butter 1 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

1 teaspoon baking powder

small pinch of salt

200 grams Nutella

Directions Preheat the oven to 325 F (160 C). In a bowl, using a mixer, beat the butter with the sugar until fluffy. In separate bowl beat eggs until pale and gradually add them to butter mixture and continue to beat 2-3 minutes more. Add vanilla extract In separate bowl sift flour with baking powder and salt. Add the flour mixture in 3 batches to eggs and butter, stirring between additions until just incorporated. Lightly grease and flour a 10-by-4-inch loaf pan, tapping out any excess flour. Spread half of the batter in the prepared pan, then spread the Nutella on top. Top with the remaining batter. Lightly swirl the Nutella into the batter with a butter knife. Do not overmix. Bake the cake for about 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

My husband is a wonderful cook, and does all of the cooking, which is a good thing as I am not much for following recipies. His favorite thing to do is bake, which is dangerous for me, as I have quiet a sweet tooth, but I don't complain. Here photos of his latest creations.
To get serving dishes like these go to your nearest Bed Bath & Beyond. They are jiggers, used for mixing drinks, so don't look for actual ice cream dishes.

This weekend my husband made some wonderful gelato! So tasty. I was searching for small dishes to serve the galato, and was not finding anything that I liked. Finally I arrived at Bed Bath & Beyond and found these wonderful containers. They are actually Jiggers, and meant for mixing drinks, but they looked like perfect ice cream dishes to me. As I was walking to the check out with my hands full of Jiggers the manager stopped me and asked if I really needed that many. I explained I was planning to use them to serve ice cream, he didn't see convinced that that was a good idea. He recommended that I order something actually made for serving ice cream. I explained I needed the for that evening and that I was totally fine using these. He laughed and walked away.

Christmas Vacation

Christmas Vacation offically started for me at 12:15 today. I must say I was just as excited as my students when the bell rang for early dismissal at 12:00 this afternoon. I packed my bags and headed home, for some quality alone time. I have spent this wonderful afternoon watching movies, sipping wine, and cuddling with Peca and Velo. ( I threw a little workout in the middle) Tomorrow I am looking forward to spending the whole day in my studio weaving. Keep checking for updated scarves in the next few weeks. I have ten days off of work, and can't think of a better way to spend my time then creating. Merry Christmas

Since it's a snowy weekend, I'm posting more photos than usual. We were planning on having friends over last evening for a big dinner and Christmas get together, but beause of the snow we had to cancel. That meant that there was now a lot of wonderful food in our house to eat, and much more time to weave. I was able to finish two scarves yesterday, now just one more and all of my Christmas orders are filled. The two scarves that I completed this weekend are for my number one customer Brandi, my brother's fiance. I don't even know how many scarves she's purchased from me as gifts by this point.

This is one of the things that he made for the dinner, homemade focaccia bread stuffed with homemade meatballs. This was wonderful, and lucky for me, there are many leftovers, so I will enjoy this great treat for lunch at work throughout the week.

Photobucket Velo found her Christmas spirit today. I was determined to get her hanging in one of the stockings, I don't think it was her favorite activity, but she didn't seem to mind too much. After finishing her stocking photo shot, she selected to get more comfortable, and wear her handwoven christmas scarf.
