Scarf Sale

I've had a busy week, of spending time with family and weaving for two fine craft shows this weekend. My husband and I went home to Lancaster to spend time with both of our families, the dog and cat come along as well. My older brother thinks that he is the dog whisper and likes to allow my dog, my parents dog, and the cat all to run free, widely throughout the house. As my husband and I went out for the evening we left instructions, not to allow my brother to set the kitten loose with the two dogs. But of course, the cat was let loose, and found her way inside of the couch. The couch was flipped upside and the kitten was resurced to be returned back into her own private bedroom. I am thrilled to be bundled in the soft covers with my dog, Peca, at my feet, and one more day until I have to return to work. All scarves that were not sold at the craft shows this weekend will be relisted onto my etsy account tomorrow and prices will be marked down for one day. All scarves will be marked down from $125.oo to $95.00, be sure to take advantage of this great one day sale and save $30.00. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and happy shopping for the Holidays.

Pat Buckley Moss

I first heard about Pat Moss on MPR last week, only to meet her last evening. She was browsing through the Orris House, where I'm currently selling my flair scarves, and came up and bought the scarf right of off of my neck.

weekend

I had a wonderful restful weekend, and spent a lot of time in my stuido. After work today, I am taking two scarves to Messiah for a show in December and taking all of the rest to the Orris House Bed and Breakfast. The owner is hosting a wonderful three day show over the Thanksgiving Holiday. I am looking forward to a two day week of work, the rest of the week will be spend in my studio and spent with family and friends. I have one more show to prepare work for this week. This coming Saturday I will be doing an artist in action presentation at the Village Artisans Gallery located in Boiling Springs. I will talk about my process as well as demonstrate the altering technique I use to create the flair on my scarves. My work along with many other wonderful artist work will be for sale.

Shopping Opportunity

Over the Thanksgiving Holiday I have the wonderful opportunity to have my woven scarves for sold at the Orris House Bed and Breakfast. Located in downtown Mechanicsburg, the Orris House will be hosting a three day craft show featuring artists that are members of the Yellowbreeches craft guild. This is a great opportunity to get your holiday shopping finished early and to buy all handmade goods.
Photobucket I really wanted to come up with an ornament for this Christmas. After talking to my old college roommate, I began making mini wire hangers, and crochet small scarves to hang on them. These are such fun ornaments to make and to use. The hook of the hanger hangs right on the tree. Each one is $8.00. New colors coming everyday! I am using the "waste" yarn from my weaving, instead of throwing it out.

Photobucket Vello is a big fan of hanging out in my studio while I weave. This week she discovered the scrap yarn box. What more could a kitten want than a box overflowing with yarn?
Photobucket I've had a wonderful string of days where I've spent almost the entire day in my stuido behind my loom. I have posted all of the scarves recently made. These scarves are 100% cotton, making them wonderfully soft. They are fun to wear both for warmth and for fashion. I am currently brainstorming how make ornaments out of my scarp yarn. Each scarf waste about 1 yard of yarn because of how it is put onto the loom. I can't make myself throw out the worderful yarn, so I throw it into a box and hope that I will think of something to do with it. Any ideas?

Photobucket Wonderful weekend. I spent most of my weekend in my studio, watching Ally McBeal, drinking coffee with a puring kitten perched on my lap. Vello, the kitten, intently watched each pass of the shuttle, and somehow managed to restrain herself from attacking the flying threads. There are few things that bring me more joy and pleassure than sitting behind my loom, or just being in my studio. This morning I got up at 4:30 so that I could spend some time weaving, before I had to leave the loom behind and head to work. Although I love my job, leaving my perfect place was a hard seperation this morning.
Photobucket I took a brief repreave from weaving and went to the Orris House Bed and Breakfast with my mom for Sunday afternoon tea. The house itself is a wonderful treat, let alone the lovely tea, scones, tea sandwhiches, and dessert. As though this was not enough relaxation, we used wonderful Neal Yard skin prodects which made our faces feel, clean, young, and refreshed. This wonderful Victorian home also houses fabulous artwork by young craftsman, making this a great place to sleep, eat, shop, and socialize. Put this lovely B&B on your list of places to go.

New Yarn

Photobucket Over the weekend I went shopping at the Mannings. The Mannings is my favorite store, as there are rows and rows of wonderfully colored yarn. If you like knitting, crocheting, or weaving, you should make the trip to the Mannings at least once. They are located in East Berlin. I am working on compiling photos of all of my yarn to help customers select color choices for custom orders. Hopefully all yarn selections will be posted next week. Of course, if I don't have the colors you desire, I would be more than willing to make the trip to the yarn store and purchase some more. Please give me an excuse to buy more yarn!

Amber Kane Weaver November 28, 1 - 4PM Although she has a wide interest in the arts, Amber has focused her work on textiles. Working on a loom in her studio she is searching for new ways to approach the traditional scarf. Inspired by the colors and textures of fields of wheat and corn Amber creates her "Flair" scarves by weaving five yards of fabric and altering them once off the loom. She doesn't follow a pattern or strict plan, instead making adjustments as she works.
Photobucket Materials: Cotton and Bamboo yarn This weekend I went shopping for yarn at my favorite store, The Mannings. I have been looking at this bright green yarn made from bamboo, every time that I go yarn shopping, pick it up, put it down, pick it up, put it down, and slowly walk away. Bamboo yarn cost more than I normally like to spend on a cone of yarn, however I was unable to walk away Saturday. I went straight home and began weaving with the my wonderful new bamboo yarn. It's fabulous, the color is vibrant, and it couldn't feel any softer up against your skin. This wonderful one of a kind scarf is now for sale $125.00. email me if interested amberkane1314@hotmail.com
